Merging the Grand Large cruising features with the Performance Range, the new Dufour 470 epitomises the shape of things to come from Dufour Yachts. The 470 is a modernised, contemporary design, yet it is one that maintains all the iconic elegance, features, performance and DNA you expect to find with a Dufour.
The new look includes a reverse chamfer curve on the topsides below the sheer line, subtle changes to the window recesses, larger forward hull volumes and a smooth fore and aft chine. The clean and impressive lines create a striking profile and the wide hull shape is designed for performance and stability in a wide range of sailing conditions.
The 470 is offered in three versions.
The Easy Version has a clean, simplified layout, intended for owners and charter users, with sheeting and control lines led to an aft winch, at the back of the coaming.
The Ocean Version is aimed at owners wanting a more traditional layout, with the halyards and control lines led to the coach roof and the sheets led to the helm station.
The Performance Version sports six winches, two each for main, genoa and pit, enabling constant sail trimming, and is aimed at thrill loving sailor and regatta racer.
Step aboard the electronically operated, large aft bathing platform and there’s three wide steps up to the large cockpit area. The Dufour exterior galley, with barbeque and sink, sits between the twin helm stations, and a generous cockpit table seating up to eight guests.
There is an optional sun bed in the cockpit which creates an additional relaxation area (as well as storage) so that the cockpit is fully surrounded with seating creating a perfect environment for entertaining and relaxing after a day on the water.
The usual issues of accessing the large, wide side decks from the cockpit have been solved by a convenient step in front of each helm. Then the optional innovative split bimini design means you have unhindered access even when all the bimini and spray hood covers are fully set up.
Ample deck storage is available via the usual cockpit lockers and a large forward locker accessed from on deck.
Each helm station has a dedicated location for a complete range of navigation instruments, great all-round visibility and the engine throttle mounted a waist height for easy control when manoeuvring.
Available with 3, 4 or 5 cabin layout options, with up to four heads and a front or side galley, the layout choices can accommodate larger or reduced crew numbers, sailing styles and comfort options.
Typical of all Dufour’s extensive natural light floods the space below decks, especially in the generously sized aft cabins, as well as creative use of ambient lighting in the living areas. With plenty of storage in the cabins and saloon, there’s an integrated bench sofa for relaxing, as well as a separate table and seating area.
For 2021 there are three new interior woods to suit the style of your choice, Boston, Europe and Millenium available in two types of wood. The Oak with light tones offers a touch of modernity, as well as warmth and a light pleasant feel. The teak, subtly contrasting with its wood grain, gives off a natural elegance. A wide selection of upholstery fabric rounds off your options to customise the interior exactly the way you want.
